So I'm sorry I haven't written in a while. Here's the note :( AG sent about me and Nellie's retirement:
Dear Samantha™ Fan,
We’re writing with important news about an American Girl original, Samantha Parkington®. As one of her biggest fans, we wanted you to be among the first to know that soon, Samantha’s complete collection—including Nellie® and her accessories—will be moving into the American Girl Archives™.
While Samantha has been one of American Girl’s most popular historical characters since her introduction in 1986, we felt the timing was right to preserve her place in American Girl’s history, making it possible to introduce new characters and time periods for our customers to enjoy.
Starting today, we’re inviting American Girl fans to share their favorite Samantha memories (see below) as a way of commemorating Samantha and the impact she’s had on girls for more than 22 years. Whether it’s remembering your beloved Samantha doll or an important lesson learned from her books, we want to hear your story.
We hope you’ll join us in celebrating Samantha! Watch for more information via our catalogues or at americangirl.com. In the meantime, don’t miss the opportunity to purchase items from Samantha’s collection before it’s too late. Thank you again for your continued support.
Sincerely,
American Girl
P.S. Though Samantha will soon be moving into the American Girl Archives, her stories will live on! You’ll continue to find Samantha books at americangirl.com, at American Girl stores, and at booksellers nationwide.
Yes, it's a problem! Send lots of emails complaining to AG at:
service@americangirl.com
If you have an online petition you can copy and paste all the comments along with the petition url (or link!) to AG, and call and write to them! We HAVE to stop this! American Girl really needs to think this over! I don't want to go! Oh, and if you have some questions on my retirement, well, Tari emailed AG and got answers! Here they are:
Q: Are the Samantha games going to stay?
A: They are going to stay. They will be on a part of americangirl.com called the American Girl Archives, where you can read a part of her book and buy the Samantha and Nellie mini dolls.
Okay, those aren't really SOME questions, just an answer to one.
You can sign this petition:
http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/DontRetireSamantha
*We have to do something!*
* One way dolls can help is by making signs that say things like "Don't Retire Samantha!", "Save Samantha and Nellie!", and, for Sam and Nellie dolls.....
"I don't wanna GO!!!!!!!!!!!"
* For girls.....
. Email AG, complaining about this problem
. If you're older, you can maybe call AG (IDK their number)
. Sign and create petitions, JUST to save us!
. Write letters, like.....
Dear American Girl,
I understand you would like to make room for new dolls, but I think Samantha is a valuable historical, one that should be kept.
Sincerely,
Amy P.
or something like that.I just thought up the name Amy P., which I'm sure is taken or used.
I'll be back in a while. I'm researching news that I'll post here on my retirement for a school project.
I'll post it here.
